NATALIE FERRIS

Natalie is a talented actress, vocalist, composer, producer, and writer based in Brisbane, Australia. At just 24 years old, she has already made a significant mark in the performing arts scene. With a passion for storytelling, Natalie combines her diverse skills to create captivating performances that resonate with audiences. Whether on stage or in the studio, she continually pushes the boundaries of her creativity, making her a rising star in the industry.

EDUCATION

Natalie earned her Bachelor of Acting from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in 2021. Following that, she pursued a Master of Screen Production majoring in Producing at the Griffith Film School, which she completed in 2024. Additionally, she holds an ATCL in Musical Theatre from Trinity College, where she achieved a distinction. Natalie's theatrical journey began in elementary school at the American School in Tokyo, Japan, from 2007 to 2012. It was further cultivated with a music scholarship at Matthew Flinders Anglican College on the Sunshine Coast, Australia, from 2013 to 2018.

STAGE

Natalie has extensive stage experience in Australia and internationally. She is a multifaceted, disciplined, passionate performer with a deep love for performing arts.

 

Most notably, Natalie was directed by Lee Lewis in her Queensland Theatre debut in their 2021 production of The Laramie Project where she played Barbara and other roles.

 

In 2022, Natalie was a part of the Queensland tour of Legally Blonde playing Serena with Mad About Theatre.

Most recently, Natalie has worked closely with the team at Cope Creative based on the Sunshine Coast and has starred in the 2024 production of Heathers playing Heather Duke and the 2023 production of Grease as Rizzo. She has also been a part of their original cabarets such as In-Flight Entertainment and Holy Ship which toured to Sydney in 2022.

Natalie is the producer and composer of I Am Woman, Hear Me in the Anywhere Theatre Festival in 2021. She also originated the role of Pepper in the debut production when performed at the Wynnum Fringe Festival in late 2020. 

​

At the Queensland Conservatorium, Natalie starred as Angellica in Aphra Behnn's The Rover directed by Jacqui Somerville. In Twelfth Night, Natalie played the role of Feste as well as composed the music for this colourful production. In Mr Burns she played Bart directed by Daniel Evans and wrote the music for the third-act musical spectacular.

In Tokyo, Japan, she performed at the Executive Flight Night charity event in 2024 as the half-time entertainment. Also in Japan, Natalie performed Disturbance The Musical for its debut performance in 2019 where she played the Neighbour's Daughter. Her first professional production was also in Japan at age 10 where she was in the children's chorus of Horipro Productions' Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2011, the touring professional company from the United States.

As a director, Natalie has directed several pieces at Buderim Youth Theatre such as Love Letters (2024), 100 Things I Never Said To You (2024), A Little Princess (2024), and Buckets (2022).

​

Natalie has worked as a production assistant with SK Entertainment on their Australian Tour of Menopause the musical, working closely with Cameron Mitchell (2022, 2024). She also worked on a musical development project called Florence driven by writer Elise Greig partnered with Metro Arts. 

​

Other highlights include: Legally Blonde (2018) (Buderim Youth Theatre) - Elle Woods, 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (2018) (Lind Theatre) - Marcy Park, Alice, Dorothy, Wendy (2016) (Horizon Theatre Festival ) - Lead Vocalist and more. ​​

SCREEN

Natalie has worked on many projects for the screen. Most notably, she is the director, producer, composer, writer, and star of the 20-minute musical short film, Showstopper. This project premiered in August 2024 at Event Cinemas with a full audience of over 160 attendees. Showstopper will make its way through the festival circuit from January 2025. 

 

She was involved in a two-week film intensive program in Winton, Outback Queensland run by the Griffith Film School. Here, she created and acted in several short films including The Swagman directed by Kiara Mezzina.

Natalie has been in several advertisements including a campaign for Jetts Fitness and modelling for the sportswear brand LSKD. 

​

Other film projects include acting in End Badly (2021), a short film written by Brisbane author, director and playwright Claire Christian, composing the score for It's Nice To Meet You (2022), a short film produced by Second Circle Studios, and acting as an extra on Netflix film Romance On the Menu (2020).

MUSIC

Natalie is an advanced vocalist, composer, singing teacher and music director with an appreciation for all genres of music. 

​

Natalie has composed music for both the stage and screen. She is the composer of the 20-minute musical short film, Showstopper (2024), and It's Nice To Meet You (2022).

​

She has written the music for several stage productions including I Am Woman, Hear Me which was performed in the Anywhere Theatre Festival in 2021. At the Queensland Conservatorium, she wrote the score for Twelfth Night (2020) and Mr Burns (2021) where she wrote several vocal and instrumental pieces. In both productions, she was also the music director and vocal coach.

​

Natalie has musical directed serval productions including Grease (2023), and Little Shop Of Horrors (2022), both produced by Cope Creative & De Jager Productions. She has also worked on several productions at Buderim Youth Theatre working with young performers on Legally Blonde (2024), Oklahoma (2024), Madagascar (2024), West Side Story (2023), Frozen (2022), and more!

​

Otherwise, Natalie has composed several stand-alone pieces in various genres such as classical, musical theatre, and pop.  

​

Natalie is a vocal teacher offering private lessons and group classes.
